This is a direct quote at life itself and that it is simple and easy to understand, but also like a jigsaw puzzle that has many pieces. Arnold Palmer uses a lot of parallels in this quote and he explains that life is like a golf game; sometimes you make birdies (-1) and sometimes you make bogeys (+1). The birdies in life are the good times and experiences with your family and friends. The bogeys in life are unexpected events that come up on a whim and are usually emergencies.
